Justice League: Speculating On The Two Credit Scenes
November is a good month if you are a fan of comic book movies. A little over a week ago, Marvel dropped the latest installment in the MCU with Thor: Ragnarok crushing it at the box office. Then this week, Warner Brothers answer back with the latest installment in the DCEU, Justice League.
Batman and his crew will be returning to theaters this Friday (ok really Thursday) November 17th. This will be the fifth film to be a part of DC’s Cinematic Universe. While the first three films were met with mixed reactions, to say the least, the last film, Wonder Woman, which came out earlier this year, was greeted with tremendous reviews. Warner Brothers hopes Justice League will continue that positive momentum.
There is plenty to discuss when it comes to this big time superhero team up. Batman and Wonder Woman return for their first time leading the iconic group. Fans will be introduced to the likes of Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg. Superman is going to make a triumphant return. On top of all that, there is sure to be plenty of other talking points and twists.
With that said, we are here to focus on the credit sequences. It has been confirmed that the film will feature two bonus scenes. DC has not made use of these scenes quite the same way Marvel has. While Suicide Squad featured a stinger that saw Bruce Wayne collecting files on his teammates from Amanda Waller, the overall importance was minimal.
Will Justice League break this trend and give fans a scene or two that will get them truly buzzing about the future? My gut says yes when it comes to at least one of the scenes. Here are some possible credit scene ideas that could truly get fans excited about the DCEU.
Hello Green Lantern
You can expect to hear the name Green Lantern a lot over the next week. Will he be in the movie? Won’t he? My gut tells me we won’t know who is playing either Green Lantern (Hal Jordan or John Stewart). However, it would not surprise me to see a mysterious green light show up during the climactic final battle.
Then when the credits roll, we see a member or two of the Justice League (probably Superman) in a mysterious location. We get shot of Superman talking, and he is asking another person some questions. As Superman finishes his questions, the camera slowly turns. On the other side, we see none other than Armie Hammer wearing the mask of Green Lantern. The scene ends before he responds.
Trouble in Atlantis
The future schedule of the DCEU is up in the air. There are only a handful of movies locked in as of now. The next one, which comes out December 21, 2018 (Yeah 2018), will be Aquaman. So to get a tease of what’s to come in Aquaman’s first solo effort certainly would make some sense.
While Arthur Curry is fighting Steppenwolf in this one, things could easily break down in his home of Atlantis. This scene could introduce us to a number of the solo film’s characters if they wanted, with the primary focus being on one of the film’s baddies doing some damage.
Steppenwolf is supposed to be a bit of a stepping stone for the Justice League. The true threat lies in the form of Darkseid, who has already been teased in prior films. DC could go the Marvel route and tease their true big bad following the conclusion of the first team-up film.
This could very well set the scene for the sequel, which currently is without a release date. What better way to leaves fans than to introduce them to a total badass of a villain, followed by the announcement of the sequel’s release date?
Trouble in Gotham
As mentioned earlier, the future of the DCEU is a bit up in the air. Official releases dates are only out for a select few projects. Then there is a long list of films currently without release dates. A ton of those projects revolves around Batman-centric characters, including Batgirl, Nightwing, Harley Quinn and Batman himself.
So why not see Gotham in trouble. This could be a way to introduce a new villain. It could also be a way to introduce one of the new heroes as well. Maybe Harley and Joker are wreaking havoc all over the city. Maybe Nightwing can bust a few robbers from completing a heist. The possibilities are endless here. It also gives us another chance to possibly see J.K. Simmons’ as Commissioner Gordon.
Deathstroke Doing What He Does Best
One of those Batman-centric characters, who has been cast, that currently has an uncertain future, is Slade Wilson. You may know him as Deathstroke. He is a truly badass character that fans are chomping at the bit to see take on Batman on the big screen.
This could certainly tie into the Gotham idea as well. But why not see Deathstroke running people down left and right as he shows off his impressive fighting skills. Ever since Joe Manganiello was cast in the role, people have been questioning when he would show up. The end of Justice League would be a pretty cool time to do it if you ask me.
Given we are getting two scenes, I would like to think at least one of these five can come true. The DC Universe is full of tremendous characters. While their Cinematic Universe is not as hot as Marvel’s, the potential is certainly there. Justice League will be a big talking point, and for DC’s sake, I hope its positive.
What do you think? What do you want to see in the credit scenes when Batman, Wonder Woman and the gang return this week? Tell us what you think in the comments!
