C-USA Week 10

C-USA: Preview for Big Contenders Week

The closer and closer we get to the end of C-USA regular season, the more and more interesting games are becoming. With three to four teams currently battling for first place in the conference, over half of the conference fighting for a chance at a bowl game, and the rest of the team attempting to end the season on a “high note”, C-USA Football has an exciting week ahead of them. As every team is facing someone within the C-USA Conference this week, here is what to watch for from each game outlined below:

Middle Tenn at Charlotte
Middle Tennessee is only two wins away from being bowl eligible, and with the one win Charlotte team, they will earn another win this week Charlotte’s defense has allowed over 425 yards of offense a game, which will result in another loss this year.

FAU at LA Tech
Florida Atlantic University has been the surprise team this year, and with Kiffin exceeding expectations, he will look to win this game and gain control of C-USA. FAU has put up over 250 yards of rushing per game and will run away against LA Tech in attempt to lead the C-USA.

Southern Miss at Rice
Southern Miss has been on a losing streak recently, but with their balanced offense and defense, they should overwhelm Rice. The Owls, who just can’t figure it out on defense, will be overpowered by the dominant Southern Miss passing attack.

UTEP at North Texas
The winless UTEP Miners still searching for that first win, but only being able to put up 11 point per game and allowing over 30 is not the key to a victory. North Texas will dominate in all areas against UTEP and hold on to the lead in C-USA.

WKU at Marshall
While this matchup heavily favors Marshall, this is a very even game. WKU would just need to find a way to run the ball consistently and effectively against Marshall. Do so and they would be able to pull the win out at Marshall.

Old Dominion at FIU
FIU is the most surprising team in the C-USA this year. They will continue to win against Old Dominion this week. FIU has done a great job of balancing out the offense and defense to ensure a great team overall.

This is honestly the matchup of the week, since both teams have high expectations and have exceeded them this season. In fact, UAB will run the ball physically against UTSA. However, they will be unable to match the points that UTSA will put up, and ultimately lose this week.

There are a multitude of exciting matchups this week, with a lot on the line for every team. Be sure to check back after the games for the recap of the winners and losers. Along with the updated standings!
