NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New Orleans Saints Preview

The (2-5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers are traveling to face The New Orleans Saints (5-2), and the Bucs are looking to turn their season around this week. The Bucs are on a four-game losing streak, while the Saints are on a five-game winning streak. The Bucs are going to have their work cut out for them as Drew Brees and the Saints look to keep the win streak alive. But, the Bucs can win this game, and the formula for the win is outlined below.

Run The Hamster Wheel
Since the return of Doug “Muscle Hamster” Martin, has totaled 65 carries and just shy of 250 yards of rushing. Simply put for this offense to succeed, it needs to effectively run the ball. Winston can not have success if he is constantly in an empty backfield and dropping back to throw. The offense needs to run the ball, to build play action and set up Winston to be able to find Evans or Jackson deep down the field. For the Bucs to be successful on offense, they have to run the ball effectively.

Simple, Yet Aggressive
With a defense that is allowing almost 400 yards of offense, and not applying any pressure to the quarterback, the Bucs defense is in terrible condition. The secondary is playing way too conservative, at the defensive line is not being simplistic enough. The secondary needs to take chances, and be aggressive towards the wideouts to make Drew Brees hold the longer. With that happening, this defensive line that has less than 5 sacks this year, needs to keep driving the offensive lineman back, and getting back to Brees before he realizes the ball. If the Bucs can simply be aggressive and precise, they can win the battle defensively.

Finkle, Finkle, Finkle!
Field goals have been an issue this season for the Buccaneers so far, but recently, the newest kicker has been nailing them straight down the middle. Which should set up the ability to go for a field goal throughout the game more often now, instead of going for it on fourth down, or punting the ball.

If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can execute this formula to the extreme, they can leave New Orleans with a win and a new win streak. If not executed properly, the Saints defense could make Winston make some tough passes and end up scoring points the other way. Be sure to tune in on Sunday, November 5th at 1:00 PM on Fox, and be sure to come back for the recap of the game as well!
