2017 Breeders Cup Turf Sprint Predictions

Another turf race but this time it is a sprint which is less than a mile and usually only 1 turn.  This race will be run at 5 furlongs and is for the horses who don’t like route running. Now that is not to say that some of these horses later on in their careers didn’t eventually stretch out to the 2 turn distance. For example, one of the previous winners who did it was Bobby’s Kitten. Last years winner was an 8-year-old by the name of Obviously who became the second oldest ever to win a Breeders Cup race. There is another 8-year-old in this field this year the name is Hogy the rest of the field is listed below.

Summary: Disco Partner is an absolute beast on Turf in Sprints, biggest concern getting a good trip. Holding Gold deep closer will need to get a good trip and if he does will definitely come with a nice price.  Lady Aurelia might be the most impressive in the field will be heavily favored over the rest and that includes the males. Stormy Liberal shouldn’t factor because he is a specialist on the downhill course at Santa Anita, not nearly the same here. Washington DC no factor against Lady Aurelia and Marsha two starts back and did not factor in this same race last year at Santa Anita. Marsha might be Lady Aurelia’s biggest challenger beat her once at Saratoga in August but hasn’t done it since might have been a fluke.

Richard’s Boy if there was ever a longshot to bet in this race this is the one will likely go off at double digits and if he pops he will reward handsomely. Cotai Glory third behind Lady Aurelia and Marsha should not be a factor and is a marginal play at best. Mongolian Saturday upset this race in 2015 is older and nowhere near as good as then.  Hogy trying to become tied for second oldest with last years winner Obviously peaking currently running the best of his career sneaky contender. Bucchero his last upset win was a fluke unless he can follow this up with another but its highly unlikely. Pure Sensation he had one bad start at Parx this year but not as fast this year as last.
