CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves Week 8

CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves Football: The Pack score bunches over Black Hills State

The Colorado State University-Pueblo ThunderWolves football team took the field Saturday needing a victory in each of their last four games to make the DII playoffs. They started very strong with a 49-0 shutout win over Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets. The CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves dominated this game from the beginning. Here is a look back at the domination Saturday afternoon.

The running game of the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves did their thing on Saturday. They had 41 carries for 173 yards. Marché Dennard again led the way with 92 yards on 13 carries and 3 TDs. He now has 710 yards on the season to go along with 12 TDs. He is a threat to go all the way any time he touches the ball. He along with the rest of the RBs help keep up the balance that the team needs on the offensive side of the ball.

The passing game for the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves has struggled in recent weeks. There is nothing like playing a wide-open defense to get that going in the right direction. Senior QB Rex Dausin was 15-26 for 166 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INT. Freshman QB Gunnar Lamphere was 6-6 for 49 yards, 1 TD. And 0 INT. Both QBs were very effective in the passing game against the Yellow Jackets defense. This was a welcome sight.

The CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves defense continued to do their thing. After a letdown the previous week against Fort Lewis, the Pack bounced back with a tremendous effort against BHSU. The defense held the Yellow Jackets to a grand total of 122 yards. Coming into the game, BHSU was averaging over 400 yards per contest. If the Pack can continue to swarm the ball and make plays, they could be a threat in the DII Playoffs.
