Washington Redskins Week 7 Keys

Washington Redskins: Three Keys against the Philadelphia Eagles

The Washington Redskins have a huge game Monday Night against the Philadelphia Eagles. A win will put the Redskins in the heart of a division race. A loss, while not eliminating them from the division, would put the Redskins in a hard spot, basically three games behind the Eagles. Here are the 3 keys to a victory on Monday Night for the Redskins at Philly.

  1. Pass rush

The Washington Redskins need to get pressure on Carson Wentz. However, when I say pressure, it needs to come from the front four. The Redskins will need to use their linebackers in coverage help. The secondary is playing without Josh Norman and a banged up Bashaud Breeland. Getting pressure on Wentz will force him into some mistakes.

The Redskins will need to create that pressure without blitzing a lot. Carson Wentz has been one of the best QBs this season at beating the blitz. If Greg Manusky’s boys can get there up front then it could be a successful night.

  1. Pass Protection

The Pass protection of the Washington Redskins has improved since week one. The Eagles were able to get pressure on Kirk Cousins in the first game and force him to be off. Improving on this will be key to the Redskins beating the Eagles. Cousins has been better off schedule in the past couple of weeks but keeping on schedule is ideal. That will be up to the pass protection.

  1. Wide Receivers

The pass defense of the Philadelphia Eagles is currently 29th in the league. This could be a huge night for the receivers of the Washington Redskins. If Terrelle Pryor can keep the ball in his hands and Josh Doctson gets open downfield, Cousins should have the time to find them. This will also be on the pass protection to give Cousins that time. Cousins with time is one of the most accurate QBs in the league.

The Washington Redskins are on the verge of being one of the best teams in the league. A victory on Monday Night will put them at 4-2. If there is ever a big game this early in the season this is it.
