Space Themed Homecoming UCF vs ECU
The homecoming festivities will kick off today with the 22nd year of “Spirit Splash”. Here is a clip of last years Spirit Splash. There have been rumors that Coach Frost will be going in the water this year, but he will not confirm nor deny that. It truly is one of the best traditions in college football, and is a fun experience to see and be a part of.
Now on to the game, as the visitor East Carolina University Pirates come into town riding a two-game losing streak after losing to Temple 34-10. The Pirates of East Carolina have had some struggles early on this season as Thomas Sirk comes into this game with a stat line of 107-187 7 TDs and 7 INTs. However, that’s not the biggest problem. East Carolina’s biggest problem is their run game. Their QB leads their team in rushing with 145 yards on 52 carries. It is never a good sign when your leading rusher has only amassed 145 yards, and definitely not a good sign when it’s your quarterback. This is the main reason why ECU is 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference, being outscored 287-133, a -144 differential. Don’t expect ECU to turn it around against the Knights though as their defense has been stifling.
For the Knights, they have deemed this game the “space game” in honor of their ties to the space program. It was thought that they were going to bring back their old Citronauts uniforms, but instead went with these uniforms found here. McKenzie Milton has been playing well for UCF, 69-101 for a 68% comp rate and has 13 TDs with just two INTs. He has earned himself a place on the Maxwell Watchlist, which is for top quarterbacks in the nation. UCF is outscoring opponents at an alarming rate of 190-63, and is currently the number one scoring offense in all the nation. This week could become a trap game if Coach Frost doesn’t have them keeping their eyes on the prize, and taking this one game at a time. Why a, I calling this a trap game? Well, next week is the match up of 2 of the 3 unbeaten teams in this conference in Navy. It could be possible that UCF could be looking past ECU. But I know Coach Frost will have the boys ready for this game and not look ahead. One thing we know for sure nothing is a given in this game of football, and Navy could very well have 1 loss when playing UCF next week as they take on Memphis.
My prediction for this game is UCF will come out fast like they did last week in Cincinnati, and they will put up a bunch of points. The defense will improve on their sloppy play in Cincinnati, and will dare ECU to run the ball by dropping extra defensive backs into coverage making tighter windows and creating big-play opportunities for the Defesnse.
Final Score UCF 55-ECU 14.
