C-USA Football: Week 5 Matchups and Preview
A majority of the teams not on a bye week last week are now enjoying their rest and recuperation this week. The opposing teams who were off last week are now battling for divisions ranks in conference matchups. The standings are starting to separate and take form. With the C-USA football teams being halfway through the season, each game is getting closer to find out who will have a chance at an all-important bowl game. Here are the C-USA football Week 5 matchups and their previews listed below.
Florida Intl @ Middle Tennessee
With FIU being able to come back late in their previous game, and Middle Tennessee was able to compete for the most part with FAU, expect another close match this week. FIU will have to bring the heat on the offense, to compete with its foes defense, who has performed very well through halfway of the season.
Louisiana Tech @ UAB
With UAB coming off of their bye, against a hot LA Tech team, be sure to see some trickery from UAB, to confuse the LTech coaches and players. UAB is looking to add another home win to their record, but may come up short against this difficult LTech offense.
Marshall @ Charlotte
After Charlotte gave up the lead and the game against FIU, they are mentally beat. Still not winning a game this year, Marshall and the Herd are not going to let them achieve it this week either, after Marshall steam rolled through Cincy last week.
Florida Atlantic @ Old Dominion
Old Dominion is also coming off of a bye week, and looks to face Lane Kiffin and FAU, who came back and dominates Midd Tenn halfway through their game. FAU will look to keep the win streak rolling, and beat up on Old Dominion.
Army @ Rice
Army was able to run all over UTEPs defense last week and expect the same as Rice was unable to keep up with Pitt. Rice will have to stop the run, and watch for play actions, to ensure themselves a chance in this matchup.
Southern Mississippi @ UT San Antonio
UTSA had a bye week after a big win the previous week and are looking to continue against a Southern Miss team that just hasn’t figured it out yet. It should be able to steam roll through Southern Miss and claim another home victory.
Western Kentucky @ UTEP
After WKU had their bye last week and UTEP still not being able to find their first win of the season, WKU will need to fix their offensive struggles in this game. This would ensure big success for Western Kentucky down the stretch of the season.
