Boston Bruins: Can They Rank Amongst NHL’s Best?

The Boston Bruins have a lineup in the 2017-18 campaign that contains a few rookies. Now, while rookies come in hungry and ready to play, rookies will come in and make many mistakes.

This year’s Bruins roster stayed mostly intact. Colin Miller, Dominic Moore, and Joe Morrow were the only ones who were sent on their way. While that handful of names did depart, the Boston Bruins only brought in one name via free agency. Paul Postma. With that said, it might be a positive sign that the Bruins stuck with their current roster.

Letting the few players walk would allow some new, fresh faces to join the team. Joining the likes of David Pastrnak would be rookies Anders Bjork, and Jake DeBrusk. Interestingly, there were some questions on the minds of some experts. With having just played their first game already, Bjork and DeBrusk might have answered the critics already.

Though the first game was a little close for comfort, the Bruins pulled out a 4-3 victory over last year’s Western Conference Champion Nashville Predators. Tuukka Rask looked as good as ever, Charles McAvoy looked very similar to his playoff form last year, and the two rookie players showed out. Now, with 81 games to go, the stage is set for the Boston Bruins to have a season that will erase the memory of the last one.

Can they do it? We will have to watch and find out. However, the Boston Bruins have the slight advantage of familiarity.  All the coach has to do, theoretically, is see who mixes well with the next man. The process has worked well throughout the preseason. Finding the right mix of players even worked for game one.  Should injuries occur though, that is when the true test happens.  What will happen next? Bruins fans will have to wait and see.
