WWE: Jinder Mahal will go down as one of the worst champions
Jinder Mahal has held the WWE title for around four months. He won the title from Randy Orton at Backlash earlier this year and has yet to drop the belt. Whenever he drops the belt, it is safe to say that this reign will go down as one of the worst WWE title runs in the history of the company Probably, the only positive thing to come out of this run is that his in-ring work has gotten a lot better. However, that is probably where it ends.
For starters, the WWE dropped the ball on Mahal from the start. You can’t take someone who has been towards the lower end of the card and throw him right in the main event without buildup. He started getting the push after WrestleMania 33 and won the WWE title from Randy Orton at Backlash in May. There was no build to give him credibility and personally, it has not helped him at all. I am aware that he was not with the company for two years after he was let go in 2014, but if the plan was to give him the WWE title, then they should have started this push earlier. While Strowman doesn’t have a title, I feel he would be a more credible title holder than Mahal has been over the last four months.
Another reason why Jinder Mahal will go down as having one of the worst WWE title reigns is his microphone work. While his in-ring work has improved since he has returned to the company, the same can not be said about his work on the microphone. It seems that every time he talks, it drags on and there is nothing memorable. As the holder of one of the top titles in the company, you need to bring people in the door. It also doesn’t help that he had that promo on September 19th that went a bit over the edge.
Whether the WWE decided to have Nakamura or someone else to take the belt off of him, it needs to be done sooner rather than later. Personally, I hope we have a new WWE champion before the end of 2017.Follow @jon_blayne
