Baltimore Ravens make a flurry of moves prior to their flight over to London
After putting offensive guard Marshal Yanda, undrafted rookie linebacker Bam Bradley, and cornerback Sheldon Price on injured reserve last week; the Baltimore Ravens made a few moves to the practice squad and active roster before they head out to London as they face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The Baltimore Ravens resigned Jeremy Langford to the practice squad last week but during yesterday’s practice, he was hobbling off the field after a special teams segment (according to Jeff Zrebiec) and the Ravens announced they put him on injured reserve today as the 16th player on injured reserve. The Ravens replace him with signing John Crockett, who was a undrafted free agent running back out of North Dakota State in 2015 and played 2 games with the Green Bay Packers. Crockett was with the Oakland Raiders in during preseason but was then cut during the 53 man roster deadline.
With Marshal Yanda out for the year with a fractured ankle, the Baltimore Ravens promoted Matt Skura, signed Arie Kouandjio, and signed Dieugot Joseph off of the Chicago Bears practice squad and rookie Jermaine Eluemenor could get his first start in London (who is native to the UK).
Even though the Ravens traded for both Tony Bergstrom (Arizona Cardinals) and Luke Bowanko (Jacksonville Jaguars), rookie Jermaine Eluemenor out of Texas A&M (former 5th round pick from 2017 NFL Draft) could get the start if the Ravens are not impressed with Tony Bergstrom. Bergstrom filled in when Yanda was taken off the field last week but he struggled in pass protection and run blocking at times against the Cleveland Browns in week 2. With James Hurst at left guard, I could see Bergstrom starting at right guard but if he struggles against a top-notch Jaguars defensive line, the London native Eluemenor could make his debut in London. Skura, Kouandjio, and Joseph are depth for the offensive line for now but the Ravens liked the undrafted free agent center from Duke (2016) before putting on the practice squad when they cut him during the 53 man roster deadline. Kouandjio was a former 4th round offensive guard for the Washington Redskins from Alabama in 2015 but was waived during the 53 man roster deadline. Joseph was a undrafted free agent offensive tackle out of FIU in 2017 and now is on the Ravens active roster.
With Sheldon Price out with a concussion, the Baltimore Ravens promoted cornerback Tony McRae to the active roster.
The Ravens added more depth to the secondary and signed Tony McRae from the Cincinnati Bengals squad before week 1 to the practice squad and due to the lack of depth at cornerback, the Ravens promoted him before week 3. McRae was a undrafted free agent in 2016 out of North Carolina A&T and signed with the Oakland Raiders before ending up on the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad. The Ravens also signed linebacker Nicholas Grisby from the Los Angeles Rams practice squad to their practice squad after undrafted rookie Bam Bradley was out with a torn ACL. Grisby was a undrafted free agent in 2016 from Pittsburgh.
The Ravens also added safety Ronald Martin to the practice squad as a journeyman who has been with the Seattle Seahawks (2015), New York Jets (2015-2016), Indianapolis Colts (2017), and now Baltimore Ravens. He was a undrafted free agent from LSU in 2015 who signed with the Seahawks and was on the active roster. He was then claimed by the Jets but then waived and put on the practice squad and then eventually was promoted to the active roster between 2015-2016. During the preseason games in 2017, the Colts traded away long snapper Thomas Hennessy in exchange for Martin but was then waived and moved to the practice squad. he was cut after week 1 and is now on the Ravens practice squad as depth for the secondary.Follow @kookykim1357
