NFL: Playoffs and Superbowl LII Predictions

It wouldn’t be officially the start of the NFL season if there weren’t any predictions for the playoffs and Superbowl. Below I’ll be giving you my predicted playoff matchups and lead you all the way up to my Superbowl predictions and winner. So, with that said, let’s get right to the 2017 NFL playoffs and Superbowl LII predictions.

NFC Playoff Teams:
Green Bay Packers (12-4) – North
Dallas Cowboys (11-5) – East
Seattle Seahawks (10-6) – West
Atlanta Falcons (10-6) – South
New York Giants (10-6) – Wildcard 1
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7) – Wildcard 2

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Seattle Seahawks – I really like the Bucs this year, but they are still young. The Seahawks have a great defense and the experience to pull through this. I can see Jameis Winston forcing a throw and throwing a pick late to seal it. We also know how hard it is to win in Seattle with the 12th man. Pick – Seahawks

New York Giants at Atlanta Falcons – This should be a close game that gets decided late. Giants usually find a way to make it through these types of games, but Falcons are great at home. If this was in NY, I’d pick the Giants, but in Atlanta, got to go with the birds. Pick – Falcons

Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers – This is a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship game. Green Bay missed an FG and had a fumble early which set the tone for that game. This year, if they don’t make the same mistakes, and with home field, they get by the Falcons. Pick – Packers

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys – Can the Cowboys finally break their curse against the team that some say was their best chance to break their playoff winless streak. We all remember the Tony Romo fumbled snap on the game winning FG. Eventually, the Cowboys will break through and when they do, it may be in a big way, but I don’t think that time is now. Pick – Seahawks

NFC Championship Game

This will be a rematch of the opening game for both of these 2 teams, this season. If you saw my pick for that game, I picked GB. So it’s hard for me to pick against them now. No one should question how good Aaron Rodgers is, or his legacy, but it’s hard to believe that he has only been to 1 Superbowl in his career. He won that one. Now it’s time for him to go for #2 to build his legacy. Pick – Packers

AFC Playoff Teams:
New England Patriots (14-2) – East
Oakland Raiders (13-3) – West
Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4) – North
Tennessee Titans (11-5) – South
Cincinnati Bengals (9-7) – Wildcard 1
Kansas City Chiefs (9-7) – Wildcard 2

Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers – I’m surprisingly down on the Chiefs. The only reason I think they get to the playoffs is that of a semi-soft schedule. They are not bad, I just don’t think they are on the contender’s level. Pick – Steelers

Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans – It’s been a very long time since the Titans have been in positions to host a playoff game. If you watch the Nashville Predators in hockey, you know that city can go for their teams hardcore. Marcus Mariota is ready to take that next step towards becoming an NFL star. Pick – Titans

Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots – This one can be summed up short and sweet. The Titans aren’t ready yet. In 2 years, you could see them being able to topple the mighty giant, but not this year. It’s still Brady’s conference. Pick – Patriots

Pittsburgh Steelers at Oakland Raiders – Went back and forth with this pick numerous times. I want to pick the Raiders, but just like I said with the Titans, I don’t think they are ready. Raiders need 1 more year of experience before I can pick them to beat Pittsburgh, much less New England. Pick – Steelers

AFC Championship Game

Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots – This is a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game and to be honest, I expect the same result. I picked Steelers to beat the Pats last year and even though they are still very good, their window to win it all, or beat Tom Brady and the Patriots, looks to be slammed shut. Pick – Patriots

Superbowl LII

Green Bay Packers vs. New England Patriots – This is the matchup that the NFL has wanted in the Superbowl for probably about 8-9 years. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are probably the leagues 2 most recognizable and biggest Superstars. They have carried their teams previously to Superbowl victories and collected MVP trophies. The Patriots will be the favorite, rightfully so, but I think it’s time for Rodgers to get that 2nd ring. He can be considered 1 of the best, and gifted, QBs of all time, but hard to argue for him with only 1 championship. The era of Rodgers may be just beginning.

Superbowl Winner: Green Bay Packers 45-38

It should be another exciting NFL season and it will be gone in a blink. So, don’t miss any of the exciting action that will surely lead to an unbelievable playoff year. Championships are not won on paper, so no matter what I’ve predicted over the past month, it will all be decided on the field. So, with all the predictions out of the way, it’s time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the start of the 2017 NFL Season.
