Orlando City Soccer Fails To Steal Three Points At Home

Jason Kreis, Head Coach of OCSC, is preparing for another home match this week, except this week it’s sixth placed Vancouver Whitecaps. Orlando, currently in eighth place, five points below the playoff line are in a desperate need of a win, which being at home will help. Also with Ricardo KaKa and Dom Dwyer returning, Orlando will be at full strength. Kreis is doing everything he can to ensure a win against the Whitecaps to not let the fans down for another year, and Kreis set the following lineup below:

Bendik
Tola
Pereira
Redding
Sutter
Higuita
Yotun
KaKa
Barnes
Rivas
Dwyer

The Orlando City Soccer Stadium was filling in, surprisingly, especially on a major night in Boxing. Anyways, the stadium was roaring with fans as they were piling in, cheering on their team as they were stretching and getting ready for another home win. As the starting whistle blew, Orlando was applying a lot of pressure, attempting two shots on goal within the first ten minutes of the game. Orlando was looking to score, but unfortunately Tommy Redding attempted to clear a ball off of a free kick away from the goalie, instead he slipped it past Joe Bendik for an Own Goal, giving Vancouver a 1-0 lead. Instead of Orlando sitting back and playing defensively, they applied more pressure, having over 15 shots towards goal by halftime, but Orlando still walked into the locker room down 1-0.

Jason Kreis and the Lions needed to continue to apply all the pressure and come out of the locker room with a goal. Instead, Orlando continued to lose the lead, except Brek Shea caught a through ball and beat Bendik for a goal to make the led 2-0. Orlando seemed defeated, Cyle Larin was subbed on, and within a few minutes of being subbed on, Larin scored a goal in the 62nd minute bring the lead down to 2-1. Orlando continued to apply pressure attempting to bring the game to a draw. Unfortunately, Orlando was unable to draw out to score an extra goal to bring the game to a draw and at least walk away with another point towards the playoff standings. Orlando’s next game is at The New England Revolution on next Saturday, and hopefully, they will be able to steal three points to get back into the playoff race.
