Seattle Seahawks: Offensive Player Spotlight – The Offensive Line
Since I went with Paul Richardson as my breakout player, my Offensive Spotlight is actually going to be on the Seattle Seahawks entire offensive line. Last season they had a bad no terrible season and will need to improve if they are going to get better and return to the Super Bowl. Injuries were a huge problem for the offensive line last season. It was so bad Pro Football Focus ranked them number 32 offensive line out of 32 teams. Here is what they said about the O-Line “Even with the addition of Luke Joeckel, there’s little reason to think this won’t yet again be the worst offensive line in the NFL. They finished dead last a season ago in snap-adjusted run-blocking grade and snap-adjusted pass-blocking grade. Getting PFF’s lowest-graded left tackle, George Fant, out of the starting lineup should help, but it won’t fix the unit overnight”. Those are some strong words about the O-Line.
Tom Cable, Offensive Line Coach, says that he is the most excited coach on the team he seems to think the personal guys made all the right moves including bringing in Luke Joeckel. Even though Joeckel played most of his NFL career at tackle, he will most likely be moving over to guard. Giving a projected starting line of George Fant at Left Tackle, Luke Joeckel at left guard, Justin Britt at center, Matt Glowinski at Right Guard, and Germain Ifedi. Even Pete Carroll is convinced that the Offensive line is going to be a huge improvement from them. I have to agree because when you are the worst offensive line unit in 2016 there is nowhere else to go but up. There will be no regression for them.
In my opinion, if the offensive line for the Seattle Seahawks can improve to be top 25 this season, which would be a seven spot increase, this football team, can be dangerous. If you give Russell Wilson time to throw and give them a running attack with that excellent defense, it will spell disaster for other NFC teams.
