Ric Flair still in need of prayers, despite recovering from surgery
According to the most recent reports, professional wrestling icon Ric Flair is still in critical condition after being hospitalized last weekend. At one point, the former 16-time world champion was put into a medically induced coma before undergoing surgery.
In a statement released on Facebook, Flair’s fiancée, Wendy Barlow, wrote the following:
“Just want to give an update to my friends and family as I have been unable to talk on the phone without crying and just feel shocked over events. I took Ric to the hospital Friday night with severe abdominal pain. From that moment on it all seems like a nightmare…multiple organ problems,” Barlow wrote. “Not to go into too many details I want everyone to know he still needs prayers as he is still in critical condition…And no he did not have colon surgery…it was another surgery!”
The most recent report, per wrestlingnews.co indicates Flair was given an external pacemaker and his heartbeat is normal and getting stronger. He is on kidney dialysis to fight off an infection, also according to the same source.
This isn’t the first time Flair has stared the grim reaper in the eye.
Let’s go flashback to October 4, 1975.
Flair was one of four passengers in a twin-engine Cessna 310 headed from Charlotte, NC, to Wilmington, NC. Three miles from their destination the aircraft ran out of fuel. The Cessna crashed through a bank of trees and nose-dived into a railroad embankment. Flair, only 26 years old at the time, had broken his back. Doctors were unsure if he would ever be able to wrestle again. Not only did the “Nature Boy” return to the ring, he did so after only six months.
The prognosis for the champ gets better with each passing day but let’s keep the “Naitch” in our thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. The wrestling world would not be the same without Ric Flair.
