New York Jets – 2017 Breakout Candidate – Quincy Enunwa
As I mentioned earlier I could have used this person as the Offensive Spotlight but I believe Quincy Enunwa is poised to be the breakout player for this New York Jets offense. Last season he played all 16 games for the Jets and finished with 58 catches for 857 yards and 4 TDs. It was his third season in the league and he improved off his sophomore season which he had 22 catches for 315 yards with zero TDs. If he can improve on his dropped passes, he should definitely see an uptick in targets because Brandon Marshall has departed for the New York Giants.
While attending college at the University of Nebraska Quincy Enunwa had a big senior year as he caught 51 passes for 753 yards and 12 TDs. Including a 99 Yard Touchdown in the 2014 Gator Bowl against then ranked 22 Georgia Bulldogs. It was a huge play as they were facing 3rd and 14 from their own 1-yard line. It was his second touchdown of the game. With Robby Anderson and new rookie ArDarius Stewart from Alabama who was the Jets 3rd Round pick. This will give Enunwa more chances to prove to his QB whoever it may be that he can be trusted and can take the lid off the defenses.
The biggest thing that will need to happen for Enunwa is that the New York Jets offensive line will need to step up and protect the QB. This will give Enunwa time to work downfield and also keep the QB upright. He finished 44th amongst fantasy football WR’s last season if he could crack the top 30 it will be a great improvement for him and will get him into the talk of being one of the premier WR’s in the league. My predictions for his stats this year he will have over 120 targets this year and I believe not only will he clear 1000 yards receiving but he will double his TDs from last season and end up with at least 8 TDs.
