Frisco RoughRiders: Juremi Profar, Texas League Player of the Week
The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, have another playing earning recognition across the Texas League. The club announced Monday that Juremi Profar has been named the Texas League Player of the Week. Profar’s performance between July 10-16 was nothing short of spectacular. He is the third Frisco RoughRiders player to earn the award this season.

Profar led the league in batting average, hitting .588 (10-17) with two doubles, one home run, and four RBIs during a four-game span against San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Profar went 3-4 on Friday against the Missions, hitting a home run and driving in three runs. He collected four hits on Saturday, including two doubles.
Profar posted an on-base percentage of .611 and a slugging percentage of .882 last week. The Curacao native has a team-leading nine games with at least three hits and has 24 multiple-hit contests.
Background on Juremi Profar:
In 2016, Profar ranked third among Rangers farmhands and ninth in the California League with a .300 average, while with Advanced-A High Desert. He struck out just once every 9.04 plate appearances, second behind teammate Jose Trevino.
In 2015, he began the season in Extended Spring Training before earning a promotion to Advanced-A High Desert on 5/27. He transferred to Hickory just under a month later, spending the rest of the season there. Profar was named a South Atlantic League Player of the Week (7/27-8/2) after hitting .450 with three doubles, two home runs, and eight RBIs.
In 2014, Profar had brief stints with Triple-A Round Rock and Class-A Hickory but spent the majority of the season between Short Season-A Spokane and Extended Spring Training.
In 2013, he led the DSL Rangers with 44 RBIs and hit a .435 average, with five RBIs and seven runs in six postseason games.
