Frisco RoughRiders: Pitching Keyed In, But Frisco Loses Series Finale

The Frisco RoughRiders fall to 2-4 on the season, as the Tulsa Drillers win the series finale. Starting pitcher Connor Sadzeck had a complete turnaround from his last start. He was keyed in on his pitches, but lack of run support led to the loss.

In his last outing, Sadzeck was chased out of the game in the first inning. The RoughRiders called on the righty again this morning, and he was much improved. Sadzeck tossed 5.0 innings for the club, giving up just one hit and no earned runs. He struck out nine, and had no baserunners until fourth inning. His only hit came in the fifth.

Clayton Cook was the first relief pitcher, striking out four batters over 2.0 innings pitched. Nick Gardewine had 1.0 IP, had one K and allowed no runs. Sam Wolff earned the losing decisions for the club. He gave up two hits, three runs (three earned), and walked two in his 0.2 IP. Cody Palmquist finished the matchup, with one hit and no runs in 0.1 innings pitched.

The bats were unusually quiet for the RoughRiders in this morning matchup. Of the nine players in the lineup, only four got a hit. Michael De Leon pushed in the only run for the RoughRiders. He had a RBI single in the fifth, that sent Luke Tendler home.

It appears that Frisco was just off their usual game in today’s matchup. Typically, even in previous losses, the bats are finding their mark. Fans shouldn’t be concerned with the low output from today. It doesn’t appear to be typical. It’s early in the season, and players are still finding their comfort zone.

The team will take tomorrow off, before embarking on a road trip of six games over seven days. The RoughRiders will head to Springfield to take on the Cardinals. That three-game series begins Thursday, April 13. After a day of rest, the RoughRiders will meet the Drillers in Tulsa, for another three-game series.
